The DOW Chemical Company: Global Enterprise Deployment of Synergis Adept

The Dow Chemical company employs approximately 49,500 people at 180 sites in 35 countries.  Effective collaboration and sharing of engineering information across this global portfolio is essential to Dow’s continued success. In 2011, Dow embarked upon a multi-year project to consolidate many older, unsupported document management systems into Synergis Adept, with the immediate objective of providing a single point of access to engineering documents.  By 2017, that system will serve approximately 3 million documents to over 10,000 users worldwide, with an IT footprint of 50+ servers. This two-part presentation first explores the value case, the vendor selection process, the implementation plan, key learnings, and future plans.  The second part describes a Dow-developed Adept reporting solution, used both to monitor the global system health and to help justify continued investment.
